A dwelling in Punta Camarones, Colombia, which is a small village on the Caribbean coast between the Santa Marta, Colombia and the Venezuelan border. The village is located on a shallow lagoon that is dry some of the year and fills with about a foot of water after rains. When wet, the lagoon is full of shrimp, which attract flocks of flamingos, herons, egrets, and other large wetland birds. Punta Camarones is also home to a sea turtle rescue facility that incubates sea turtle eggs and returns the grown hatchlings to the sea.
